Mandate

We would like to acknowledge that Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.


[UN]PROMPTU is a not-for-profit collective of artists, based in Montréal, committed to helping emerging artists to receive recognition for their work. Specifically, the collective is focused on filling in the lack of support for the artistic community regarding upcoming undergraduate artists. Challenging obstacles such as securing exhibition spaces, and promoting a community mentality that confronts institutional market-based control within the art world - for example, the gallery and auction systems. Additionally, the collective is interested in offering opportunities for unrecognized voices through knowledge-sharing workshops, artist talks, essays, and digital exhibitions. [UN]PROMPTU is dedicated to fostering a community of artists and building a space where creative minds can flourish.
